Personality: What there needs to be said about von Doom need always start at the beginning: several years after his birth. The son of a witch and a healer, von Doom was soon orphaned when the current Monarch of Latveria was infuriated by his parents' failed attempts at healing his wife. Feeling cheated, the king ordered his family executed. While both of his parents did not survive, von Doom was whisked away by his uncle, Boris. The next few years are relatively unknown other than the rare few moments Doom talks about himself. What is known is that he grew up showing himself to be the most intelligent and talented young man that was seen in recent memory.

At age fifteen, by his own admission, he constructed his first suit of armor. A year later, also by his own admission, he had committed his first murder (in self defense). The validity of these are questionable, but there is little reason to lie about these sorts of things, and Doom considers lies to be beneath him (when they're not caused by his crippling obsession with revenge).

Being raised by his otherwise caring uncle, the harshness and cruelty that surrounded Victor during his early life in his old country planted the bitter seeds within him. The seeds that would soon blossom forth from petty grudges and small acts of vanity to a massive redwood of violence and constant hatred. Seeing the world's supposedly unjust view and lack of action in helping his country forever cemented in young Victor's mind that the world was false and unfair. And that the only way to fix it would be to conquer it. Seemingly, at first, with brilliant science and medical perfection.

This would not be so. With his keen genius-level intellect, the scouters from Empire State University granted Victor a full scholarship at the Ivy League academy. And it was here where his true start towards villainy would begin.

After a freak lab accident caused by a miscalculation, Victor's face was scarred for life. His esteemed rival, Reed Richards, was whom he chose to blame. Believing him earnestly to have sabotaged the machine instead of accepting the reality that he failed, Doom's hatred of Reed began. This very experiment--a machine to talk to the soul of his long since deceased mother--caused him to be expelled from the prestigious Empire State University.

And then it was this pride that kept him moving forward. Having his once beautiful face scarred by the accident, the vain young man embarked on a journey to fix his mangled face. Through some undisclosed time of searching, he happened upon a small order of Tibetan monks who were skilled in the art of magecraft. Finding a rather warm welcome, he joined their ranks and trained in the mystic arts for several years. Amazingly, von Doom was found to be a genius in the ways of magic in much the same way he was a brilliant scientist and he climbed the ranks until he became their grandmaster in just a few short years. Reaching a new pinnacle of skill no one on the planet had ever yet to see--a master of both Science and Sorcery--von Doom had the monks construct him a suit of armor imbued with machine but with the brilliant designs of a mechanical mastermind. This suit, made with magic and forged in secret, would be the first ever armor Doom would wear. Eager to begin his new designs for world domination and the eventual battle with his old rival, Reed Richards, von Doom put on his especially magically-enhanced mask and then christened himself Doctor Doom. The soon-to-be ruler of Earth.

First order of business--liberate his home country of Latveria from its centuries-long rule of corrupt dictators and psychos. The current king had ordered the death of his family and, being the cruel despot he was, Doom murdered the king and made a robotic duplicate surrender the crown in public so as to make his rule official. Now the new Emperor of Latveria, Dr. Doom began reconstructing the system of government and rebuilding the old country from the bottom up, turning it from a second-rate nation into a first-rate world superpower. And with an army of robots patrolling the streets every night, the people of Latveria came to love their new ruler for his benevolence.

And with immense wealth and resources at his command, coupled with his immense genius and skill, Dr. Doom would come to be a force that many across the globe would reckon with. And greatly feared for his destructive potential.

As for his pride...it is the end all and the be all for him.

Doom's pride is what caused his face to be forever scarred and it is always pride that ends up defeating him in the end. Yet, it is this pride that motivates him to keep moving forward. As it is said that pride is the worst of the Seven Deadly Sins, so is it said that its light side, self confidence, is one of the greatest virtues. As it keeps the individual going strong, so is it the fuel that keeps Doom doing what he does--invent convoluted, nearly miraculous devices and spells in order to tackle some insurmountable task. When the Silver Surfer had been trapped on Earth by his master, Galactus, Dr. Doom had tried an actually succeeded in stealing the Power Cosmic from him, a mysterious power that allowed its wielder to manipulate the universe on every level imaginable, as well as his cosmic surfboard. Truly, it was a phenomenal feat. And thus he sought to recreate the world in his vile image. However, as pride was what propelled him to steal the power in the first place, it was pride that took it away. Doom was tricked into flying the cosmic surfboard into outer space, wherein he would inevitably hit the barrier that Galactus had used to trap the Silver Surfer on Earth. Surviving the fall to Earth, Doom's newly obtained Power Cosmic was returned to its owner.

Indeed, Doom's hubris is not alone in preventing his rise to true power--like many supervillains, he appears to be afflicted with some sort of psychological disability involving a "rival" superhero. In this case, Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic. Since the accident that scarred his face, Doom holds Reed solely responsible for most of the woes that befall him (minus the tragedies that had already happened to him). Unlike many rivalries, however, this reaches truly ridiculous levels to a point it really "could" be considered a mental or psychological disability. Whenever or wherever he is presented with the chance to one up Reed, Dr. Doom will always take it. When it is made clear that Richards is not behind the recent scientific failing that made the news, Doom will take it upon himself to prove his superiority to Richards by fixing it/harnessing it for his own ends. When his latest plot will involve many superheroes to face against him, it is always Reed Richards he will focus his rage on. And when there is evidence brought up that Reed is the better scientist or just successful in some regard as opposed to Doom, he will always decline it as being real and that some sort of luck or trick was involved.

At times when the accident is brought up, when Reed even seems to not cast any blame on anyone for the machine exploding, miscalculation or no, Doom seems to truly believe Reed was at fault, an evolution from the simple hubris that caused the failed invention in the first place. A believer of his own lies; a fitting irony for someone who claims to never lie.

The at-times utterly selfish behavior of Dr. Doom is something of a complexity itself. While he has shown disdain and outright hatred for the superhero community, he is not known to be truly racist, sexist, or any other sort of distasteful discrimination such as classism. To Doom, all other life forms are inferior. There are merely "annoyances". This perhaps stems from the fact that his origin is technically from the Romani Gypsies of his home country, Latveria, who were themselves a persecuted ethnic group. In fact, those who tote themselves as racist supremecists such as the supervillain Red Skull tend to be even more hated in Doom's eyes. Moreso than superheroes.

And while Doom is the poster boy for the iconic, evil overlord of a supervillain, he nonetheless has a sort-of working moral compass. Meaningless acts of violence and cruelty that plague an average supervillain hold no special place in Doom's list of things to do. As they are, as stated before, meaningless and will not benefit him in any way. While he is known for being particularly harsh in his verbal treatment of prisoners, Dr. Doom nonetheless will not try to harm a completely helpless prisoner like a coward would. An incident involving one of his men attempting to rape a female prisoner actually had him resorting to execute the soldier on the spot for thinking of abusing someone who could not defend herself. While it could be argued that he will hurt somebody only when the situation absolutely calls for it, this willingness to refrain from common debauchery is an admirable quality.

Despite being a supervillain, Dr. Doom is also the king and legal monarch of the State of Latveria. A small European country by Hungary, it is nonetheless one of the world's superpowers and Doom himself even has a seat in the United Nations. Latveria is his homeland and was once the desolate country holding countless Gypsies that lived under the even more despotic rule of the former monarchy there. With Dr. Doom now king, the nation has flourished like never before. Things like hunger and disease have since become a thing of the past due to the sciences developed by its ingenius ruler and there is virtually no crime since Dr. Doom's army of robots patrol the streets twenty-four hours a day, every day. And were one of the citizens in danger right in front of him, Emperor Doom will not hesitate to step in to help them. During a time when he was temporarily deposed as ruler, a Latverian woman still loyal to his lineage was placed under his personal protection by his own word. When the woman was killed shortly thereafter (and on his watch, at that), Doom added her death to the list of atrocities the new despot had committed, truly horrified by the heartless act. After personally disposing of the insane king and retaking control of Latveria, Doom went straight back to reversing the damage the usurper had caused the country, right down to even adopting the son of the woman he failed to save. At little to no benefit to himself at all.

While hardly "heroic" in the traditional sense, Dr. Victor von Doom possesses a sort of honor code that only he really seems to understand much at all. Unless he need to be hasty, Doom will not attack someone from behind or anyone that could not even be close to be considered a threat to him. Also calling him out for a duel is something he strictly adheres to unless he really does not have the time for it. While hypocritical given his transgressions, it is far preferable that he be logically thinking rather then a diabolical sadist. It should also be known that Doom holds himself to his word when he gives it. When the world was threatened by the all-powerful entity known as Onslaught, Doom was more than willing to face the creature to the very end to defend the Earth. This proved to be true, as it would turn out.

This also extends to when he promises to not harm an individual--a superhero or otherwise--when he says so. It should, however, be known that the exact words "'I' will not harm you" does not include his minions or robot sentries. While treating his allies as he should, Doom has shown the usual practice of betraying an ally whenever he sees fit. This varies from time to time, however, and depends on the individual he has allied with. Reed is his mortal enemy, so team ups with him tend to be shortlived or at least very temporary. As villains tend to team up with each other, it should be known that betraying them is hardly worth any accusations as many such "allies" tend to be even worse than Doom, such as Loki or the Red Skull.

Namor the Sub Mariner is perhaps the only friend Dr. Doom has, aside from his uncle Boris. Both are sovereign kings to their nations and both have had to make harsh decisions as the leaders charged with the protection of their respective charges. Team ups tend to have one betray the other (or both) but subsequent team ups always happen with little thought given to past transgressions, signifying that Dr. Doom indeed seems to think Namor as a friend and the feeling is mutual. What's a few minor betrayals between two people who are people who are just going to buddy up again later, anyway? (For Example--stealing kills from someone on your team in a MOBA game.)

Obviously, Dr. Doom is still an unrepentant murderer and despot who wouldn't hesitate to kill his enemies and take over the world rather than surrender. A few mere sympathetic qualities can't offset that, but potentially his love for his mother might. Having sold her soul for magical power, Cynthia von Doom had her soul in the grip of Mephisto's cage in Hell. An extremely powerful demon that is not very different from religious depictions of Satan (and he's completely evil, to boot), Mephisto loves nothing more then to torture the souls of people who sold themselves to him for some kind of con boon. And Victor would love nothing more, even Reed's defeat, to rescue his mother from the demon's clutches. Having remembered his parents fondly above all else, Doom practices his magic intensely when the prospect of saving her presents itself. So much so, in fact, that when he was offered a favor from the newly deemed Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange, Dr. Doom did not waste a second before deciding to ask Strange for help in saving his mother's soul from the depths of Mephisto's realm. As per tradition of the tournament to determine the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, the runner up is allowed a favor from the winner, no matter what it is. Rather then ask for some sort of source of power or magical tome or some dark magical secret, Doom instead opted to ask for the entirely selfless wish to rescue someone from Hell. After a daring rescue and some clever wordplay, Stephen Strange and Victor von Doom were successful in liberating Cynthia's soul from Mephisto.

As evidenced by the profiles in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and its updated rerelease, Doom's comics depiction is identical with his gameverse depiction. This is referenced by the fact that his bio in the gameverse is the exact same from the comics, only generalized. References made by other characters and their previous histories supports this fact. The main difference being this Doom has met and teamed up with Albert Wesker and is familiar with cross dimensional shenanigans. Just more so than usual.

Abilities: As an otherwise normal human being, Dr. Doom does not possess any natural superhuman capabilities. A particularly gifted human being, but normal nonetheless. His incredible intellect is where his strength lies. While some supervillains rely on their natural fighting ability or their superhuman powers, it is Doom's cunning and intelligence that makes him so powerful. In the usual topic, his only true "superpower" is his well-above-average mind, which is calculating and precise. With his brilliant intellect, Dr. Doom is capable of constructing complex devices that are centuries ahead of his time period's normal technological capabilities, perhaps even further ahead. Robots, various superhuman prisons and teleporters are within his ability to produce, superhuman serums and medicines far more advanced than today’s standards are his common practice. Doom is well versed in many fields of scientific study, although it is well opinionated that he is most masterful with robotics and Artificial Intelligence, the results have been his specialized “Doombots”, automatons that look and act exactly like himself. His finest achievement in the field of inventions is hands down the first (for his planet’s) time machine, with which even he rarely experiments with due to the obvious dangers of time travel. He has also developed advanced spaceship technology.

Aside from his genius, therein lies a rare talent amongst any living being, demon and alien alike--to use both magic AND technology. While it isn’t unheard of for various superbeings to use science and magic in tandem, it is rarely ever seen. Dr. Doom may well be the only human who is both a master of technology and science. Through his continuous studies into the workings of the mystic arts, Doom has become one of the leading spellcasters in all the world, second only to the Sorcerer Supreme himself (by his own admittance, no less!). Demon summoning, curses, mental domination spells and offensive concussive blasts are just some of the weapons in his magical arsenal. Despite this dual capability, Doom tends to focus more on his scientific studies rather than his magical ones.

The most obvious of his “powers” however would be the scientific and magical enchantments upon his always-present power armor. Worn at all times, it is made of a special blend of titanium and other metals to allow protection from blows from superhumans and is even strong enough to completely negate tank bullets. Aside from protection, it also increases his already-above-average strength to superhuman levels, able to lift cars and throw them great distances with ease. Various gizmos that allow Doom to breath underwater and in the vacuum of space have become standard for his armor. A tracking and combat aiding AI is also installed onto the computer in the armor that give him a virtual HUD within the mask that helps the otherwise-untrained Doom to fight against skilled fighters and come out on top. A very powerful forcefield projector--one that can even cut Doom off from Magneto's magnetism powers and defends against the Incredible Hulk--is installed with every armor and seems to be the centerpoint of anything he makes as the suit (being both nuclear and solar powered) can do not much else while the shield is active. The fingers and hands of the suit can fire concussive "photon blasts" that fire off what are presumably bolts of cold plasma. Other weapons are taken on and off according to his whims, so don't be surprised when he can suddenly move you in the air with an antigravity generator or electrocute you with volts of electricity.

The mask is especially unique as it is enchanted with several spells to increase his vision and hearing, protect his mind from telepaths and demons, etc. Despite the provoking belief, Doom does not store his soul inside his mask, it is merely a part of his iconic look and serves a role he has designated for helping to protect him from threats.
